#JeSuisCharlie What is it?

The hashtag #JeSuisCharlie, which means "I am Charlie," quickly started trending in the hours after the attack, first in France and then internationally as the news spread.





Flooding the social media streams, this has become a movement on an international level in response to the devastating attack on the Paris offices of satirical newspaper Charlie Hebdo by three gunmen this afternoon has left at least 12 dead. Charlie Hebdo is a publication known for political satirical commentary.




People of all races show their views on the subject and the topic of freedom of speech becomes extremely prominent within these attacks.
